Help This Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Organization
I am participating in "America's Giving Challenge" - sponsored by Parade Magazine and the Case Foundation (hosted by Network for Good), with Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition (TWRC) as my "non-profit cause." With this Challenge, the top 4 national organizations which bring in the most individual donations (by donation count not total dollars raised) are awarded $50,000 each for their organization. We have been running in the top 10 (were in 3rd place at one time), and are now in 8th place.
As the person responsible for soliciting donations for my "cause," I am supposed to be "social networking" my way through this - and requests must all be done through the internet, not in print. It is allowed that I ask anyone and everyone to post through their own e-mails, blogs, websites, etc.
I'm sure you, your friends and family, would be willing to make a $10 donation (which is the minimum donation amount) to help our Houston urban wildlife. Please post this on your website or in a blog, or e-mail your contacts, and ask these kind people to give a nominal donation to help TWRC. This challenge ends January 31.
For us to win $50,000 in this event would do so much for our animals as well as bring quite a bit of attention to urban wildlife rehabilitation efforts.
You may already be aware of us, but for the purpose of providing you with more information -- TWRC was established in 1979; has had over 70,000 animals come through the doors since 1992; we raise and release an average of 2,000 baby birds each year in our Baby Bird Program; and we have an education program where we go out into the schools to teach children about nature/animals, as well as attend speaking engagements at various community and civic events. We are currently in the process of looking to expand our facility so that we are able to rehab more animals on site (rather than sending animals to rehabilitators’ homes) and enlarge our Baby Bird Program.
